Whether you are into volunteering or batting around a tennis ball, Atlanta probably has the best place for you to meet people with similar interests. Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association (ALTA)

The 82,000-member Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association (ALTA) is a non-profit organization committed to the development of tennis for recreation and fitness. The primary function of ALTA is scheduling league play for teams in the area. Members are from age 8 to retirees in their 80s and membership is $20 per year. Leagues are arranged in a doubles format, with groups for men, women, mixed, seniors, juniors and even a league for wheelchair players. For more information call 770-399-5788.

Atlanta Ski Club (ASC)

The ASC is a non-profit organization and is one of the most successful ski clubs in the world. The ski club offers monthly socials and happy hour, which gives people a chance to meet. Community Gardening Programs

If you have a green thumb or just like to play in the dirt, then The Food Banks, Community Garden Initiative might be for you. The Community Garden helps neighborhood groups with finding locations for, planning and organizing gardens. The project enables families to provide their own food through gardening. Habitat for Humanity

Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit organization, has helped many people achieve the dream of owning a home. Each affiliate works to serve its specific community. On many Saturdays there are 10 sites working and almost 30 people per site, which offers a great opportunity to bond with others while helping the community. For more information call 404-223-5180.

Hands on Atlanta

Hands On Atlanta is a non-profit organization that helps individuals, families and community groups find volunteer opportunities. The volunteers participate all year, serving community needs at schools, senior homes, low-income neighborhoods and more. High Museum

The High Museum of Art may be what you are looking for when you want to add a little bit of culture to your life. Inside the Georgia-Pacific Building near 5 Points, the downtown branch displays folk art and photography.
